Got up early today...

Got up early today...

Managed to get to the top of my mat and started my sun sals, but today I got marichyasana A, I got there and it wasn't pretty but I felt no pain doing it, just this deep stretching. Practice was good today ;-)

To do:

- Minisinoo has started writing "Grail", a novel set after X-Men 2 (the movie). Must read and then beg for more! The background for this novel is "Special: The Genesis of Cyclops", one of the best stories on the net.

- I had plans to go shopping to Old San Juan but it looks like its going to rain all day long :-( Maybe I'll make it a Blockbuster night instead

Saved!!!

Saved!

Hurricane Frances grazed PR, bringing heavy surf and some rains. We were sooo lucky. Frances is now a category 4 hurricane with winds up to 140 miles an hour. It's now headed to the Bahamas. I'm praying for the people there, hoping they'll get lucky too. And the people at Florida, who only a couple of weeks ago experienced the destruction of hurricane Charlie, the last thing they need right now is a category 4 heading their way!

In other news, the Republican National Convention got underway, but more importantly the Daily Show with John Stuart's coverage of said convention started yesterday and if you missed it, well you suck, but try to catch it next time! For more info on the Daily show go to their website here. And for more cool links I'll add Michael Moore's site, just because. And why not add J.Kerry's too? Not that I get to vote, since I live in PR and we don't have the right to do *that*. (we do have the right to go to war though, like WW2, Vietnam, Iraq... What?! Me bitter?! Never! )

In what I'm reading news: Right now I'm in a Xander/Faith mood, so I'm devouring all stories by nwhepcat and Liz Marcs. What is it about those two kids together that makes it so much fun to read?

Bad, bad, Frances!

150 miles... that's how close hurricane Frances will, apparently come to San Juan. I'm soooo *not* happy. Anyways, I'd better get ready. Worst case scenario, it comes even closer and we get hurricane winds and rain up to our necks. Best case scenario, we get a day off work to prepare and end up barbecuing outside.

The rain is what worries me the most. We've survived a couple of hurricanes here in my house (Hugo, Georges...) but its been raining all weekend and already the terrain is saturated, we so don't need any more water. I'm still optimistic we'll only get some of those rain bands and not too many inches of water.

Let's see how this one goes!

Expo

My first Ashtanga class!!!

Yesterday, I got to experience my first Ashtanga class. There are no Ashtanga shalas here in PR but this weekend they had an expo in San Juan that included some demos and workshops by 'It's Yoga' (from San Francisco). They had a workshop for their 'Rocket' series and a more traditional first series. It was fantastic, the teacher was very patient and so good with the students. I was so thrilled that I could follow so well, even when he was using Sanskrit ;-) A great experience all around made even better when they told me they are thinking of opening an Ashtanga shala right here in San Juan! They are not completely sure where exactly it will be but they are very optimistic it will be here in a few months. I'm soooo there, I even signed to get more info!

Loved the expo. Good vegetarian food, lovely music, free massages, interesting demos, cool workshops (I even did some bellydancing ), plus Ashtanga in Puerto Rico!!! I had a blast, and I can't wait till next year!

Back to business

Back to business this week:

Got my computer and programs back. I can finally start working on my sites again! Map of a Human Heart (Xander site) has a new home here. I'm working on updating with some new fics and covers real soon.

To buy or not to buy:

I've heard only good things about Robin 129 (huzzlewhat's LJ and Te's LJ) and I'm itching to read it. I haven't bought a DC comics in years but damn "War Games" sounds sooo damn good!

Puerto Ricoooooo!!!!

Woke up really early on Saturday to see PR's basketball team beat Australia 87-82, what a game! Man, those kids are playing so well, gotta love them! Here's hoping they can keep it going =)

Ooooo fanfic!

In what-I'm-reading-news:

BtVS
- Hepcat's Lilac City has a new chapter which also happens to be the last chapter of this incredible journey. I'll miss this Xander and his new gang of scoobies, and I'll miss Spokane :) .Chapter 194.

X-Men
- Minisinoo (my all time favorite writer)has written two new chapters for her series "Special". I really can't stress enough how much I love this series and the way she brings to life the original characters of the X-Men universe in the movieverse. Go read.

Farscape
- I don't like AU stories much, specially in Farscape where things can be so unpredictable even without using any AU. But then OneEye the DRD writes something like "Unrealized Peacekeeper" and all that goes out the window, because she has recreated the Farscape universe in an exciting new way. You'll never see Peacekeepers the same way again ;-)
Chapter 13 and links to all previews chapters are here.

Watching Farscape

Sundays are excellent days for a good Farscape marathon. Actually any day is good ;-)

Sundays are also good for catching up on Hepcat's excellent Xander novel "Lilac City". Part 189 is up now and its a good one. *Love* her Xander and how she has let him mature a bit after Chosen.

Sundays are specially good for reflecting on why you keep busting your back during yoga and promising never to push yourself too hard again.

Man, I love Sundays!

#1- Save the World

Hi.

Wow. This is kinda weird, after reading so many cool blogs and lj's, to finally have one of my own.

Now I don't remember what I wanted to say to the world...

Peace?

Cheese is good?

Save the whales... Or the cats? Or something equally meaningful.

Ooor I could just write what I did today...? Too boring.

Maybe I'll save the world tomorrow and then have something to write about :)
